To mark National Conveyancing Week 2024, Taylor Walton were keen to speak to a number of our connections in Residential Property, and share some of their work highlights and experiences with our wider network, celebrating the wonderful work that is achieved by all those involved in the conveyancing process. Below we have collated the quotes received for this week for all to read.

Richard Goss – Associate Director and Head of Harpenden office for Hamptons

I am an Associate Director and Head of Hamptons Harpenden office. As well as running the office and the team I’m also at the ‘coalface’ working to assist sellers and buyers looking to move in to, out of and around Harpenden and the surrounding areas. I am incredibly proud of my team and the service we offer, placing integrity and our clients’ care at the heart of everything we do which is why we align so well with Taylor Walton, given these shared values.

I love what I do because every day is different and presents fresh challenges and opportunities. I’ve always had a love of architecture and interior design so working in property was always going to appeal, moreover I absolutely love matching people with property and the thrill of securing instructions to market a property for a client is a joy that has never left me in my 30 year career. The best feeling however is knowing that you have exceeded a client’s expectations and made a positive difference to them, moving can be stressful and the extent of work that a skilled and diligent agent will do in partnership with the lawyers to keep your move on track is often underestimated so it is immensely satisfying when you get to complete on a sale and handover the keys with both seller and buyer happy with the part you have played.

I have been working with Taylor Walton since the outset of my career in Harpenden 30 years ago, in fact Taylor Walton acted for the purchaser of my first ever sale!

Siobhan Holbrook – Founder and Director of Mortgage Light

I’m the founder and director of Mortgage Light here in Milton Keynes. I started the company 13 years ago to feed my passion for helping people to buy a home, no matter what their circumstances. The name Mortgage Light was created to reflect my company’s ethos; that we explain all mortgage terminology clearly and without complicated jargon, ultimately ensuring that the ability to buy a home is accessible for everyone.

We have a sound understanding not only of the mortgage market but also of every touch point within the house buying process, so we are able to guide our clients and overcome any obstacles that may arise.

I’ve always really enjoyed helping people find their home, whether being a family or moving out of home for the first time. My sister has always said to me that she’s never known someone enjoy their job so much, but for me, working with all parties within the house buying process is an addiction for creating happiness for those looking to move! There is no feeling like helping someone buy their home!

We’ve been working with Taylor Walton for numerous years. The relationship dates back to when I was an estate agent for Elevation New Homes and Caroline Hume was a conveyancer at another firm. I always found Caroline so passionate about building relationships and doing right by customers. We both believe someone buying a home could be a client for years and we should be there to help them with all their home moves. Both Mortgage Light and Taylor Walton share the same values – we believe in a house buying service, not just a one-off transaction.

Sam Ward – Client Services Manager at Ashtons Estate Agents

I am the Client Services Manager at Ashtons, heading up our client services team as well as our Academy. Having previously worked in both sales and sales progression, I moved into this team in the summer of 2022. We manage client relationships from their first interaction with Ashtons and recommend local professional services to aid their property journey, such as conveyancing, surveyors and removals.

Coming solely from a property sales background, I still hold a keen eye for closing a deal! Working closely with our clients, we look to match their expectations and requirements to the best suited referral partner to establish the very best working relationship between both parties. This not only will work well for both sides, but having the right solicitor act for our client will inevitably reduce the transaction times as well as reduce the stress a property transaction can bring. Our Academy invests in young, local people looking to get into the property industry and we provide them with the best platform to succeed. Being a part of their journey brings huge satisfaction when we ‘graduate’ them into a full time branch role within our business.

My first interaction with Taylor Walton probably came more than ten years ago when I was working as a sales progressor. I have been working very closely with TW for the past 7 years, initially speaking with a member of the team probably most days of the week when progressing sales to now liaising a number of TW associates and partners to ensure our high levels of service to clients is reciprocated on both sides. However, Ashtons working relationship with Taylor Walton spans more than 20 years and that in itself I think is testament to how TW conduct their business and service both their clients and local companies looking to work alongside them. Expertise, transparency and communication are probably the top three attributes required from your conveyancing solicitor and that is why I enjoy working with Taylor Walton so closely.

David Wright – Financial Advisor at KDW Financial Planning

I am a Financial Advisor at KDW Financial Planning, specialising in Mortgages, Wealth Management and Pension advice.

I love arranging mortgages for people and seeing them moving into their first home, or arranging remortgages for people so they can make improvements.

I have been working with Taylor Walton for around 10 years and in particular Tom Caterer, who has been an extension of my team and great help to grow each other’s client base. He has been brilliant to work with.

We are fortunate to work with so many talented and experienced individuals in the Residential Property department, and aim to offer our clients the best possible service when buying, selling or remortgaging.
