I am an Associate Solicitor working in a hybrid role across our Commercial Property and Property Litigation departments.

My focus is transactional and contentious property matters, which places me in a unique position to advise clients whose property matters overlap in the remit of the transactional and litigation departments.

I specialise in a broad range of commercial and residential property disputes including:

• 1954 Act lease renewals.
• Dilapidations.
• Restrictive covenants.
• Possession/forfeiture claims and relief from forfeiture.
• Breaches of lease.
• Advising landlords in the case of tenant insolvency.
• Recovery of rent arrears and service charges.
• Applications for residential long lease extensions pursuant to the Leasehold Reform, Housing and Urban Development Act 1993.
• Rights of way.
• Access injunctions.
• Misrepresentation.

I also have experience in dealing with transactional commercial property matters such as property acquisitions and disposals (freehold and leasehold), general landlord and tenant matters and Landlord and Tenant Act 1954 renewals.

Being able to work with clients on their contentious and transactional matters enables me to foster strong connections with clients and understand their businesses and commercial objectives from all angles.

My property disputes practice consists of a mixture of advisory and litigious work of varying complexity. I am meticulous in analysing issues and identifying multiple routes to resolve problems, with commerciality in mind at all times.

I understand that client objectives can change, which means the advice and options might also change for the client. Whilst I can adapt my approach to cases quickly and with ease, I always ensure to take the same approach at the outset of cases – understanding the client’s needs and what is important for them. Litigation is not appropriate in all cases and I proactively find amicable, commercial solutions for clients to avoid incurring the cost of litigation.

I work for a range of clients including, private individuals, limited companies, charities and PLCs. I have conducted litigation in the County Court, the Upper Tribunal (Lands Chamber) and the Court of Appeal, working closely with junior counsel and leading counsel.

I am also a member of the Property Litigation Association, an organisation specialised in all aspects of commercial, residential and agricultural property litigation.

I joined Taylor Walton in 2020.

My experience includes:
• Acting for Landlords and Tenants of retail premises in contested lease renewals on ground (f), from commencing proceedings through to preparing for a hearing in the County Court.

• Acting for Landlord and Tenants in lease renewals under the Landlord and Tenant Act 1954 from initial instruction, to service of notices, negotiating Deferral Agreements, commencing proceedings (where required) through to Directions.

• Advising clients on their options for recovering commercial rent arrears and taking back possession when required.

• Advising on a boundary dispute and carrying out title investigations and making necessary enquiries with HMLR.

• Drafting leases of varying complexity for Landlords and reviewing/negotiating leases for Tenants whilst advising on the commercial merits.

  • LLB University of Hull
  • LPC and LLM – BPP Law School, Master of Laws
