I am a Trainee Solicitor, currently in my fourth seat with the Private Client team in Harpenden. My role as a trainee involves working on client matters under fee earners’ supervision.

In the Private Client department, I assist with advising clients on their personal affairs. My day-to-day work includes drafting Wills tailored to clients’ specific circumstances, ensuring their wishes are clearly expressed and structured effectively, alongside the associated advice that feeds that drafting. I also support fee earners with the administration of estates, which involves advising executors through the probate process, preparing Inheritance Tax forms, and coordinating the distribution of assets. This involves regularly liaising with beneficiaries, financial institutions, and other relevant parties.

Whilst in Private Client, I have also gained exposure to trust work, assisting clients with the establishment an administration of appropriate structures for asset protection and succession planning. In addition, I help prepare Lasting Powers of Attorney, to ensure that clients have suitable arrangements in place so that their affairs can be managed by their trusted individuals if required in the future. I am enjoying taking a client-focussed approach to provide tailored advice that reflects individual needs and circumstances, whilst recognising the importance of sensitivity and discretion when advising on personal matters.

My third seat was in the Commercial Litigation department, where I assisted fee earners in advising and representing clients across a broad range of disputes, including contractual claims, professional negligence, construction disputes, contentious probate claims, and property-related matters. I assisted across all stages of the litigation process, from conducting initial fact-finding and legal research through to disclosure and trial preparation.

My second seat was with Corporate & Commercial and included working on mergers and acquisitions, corporate restructuring, and commercial contract reviews. I also regularly liaised with Companies House concerning company filings and secretarial work.

My first seat was in the Commercial Property department, where I assisted in all aspects of commercial property, including development acquisitions and disposals, and landlord and tenant work.

Before starting my training contract, I worked as a Paralegal in the Private Client department.

I joined Taylor Walton in 2022.
